Aston Villa fans have flocked to Twitter to respond to the latest news surrounding injured duo Wesley and Tom Heaton.
This comes after Villa journalist Ashley Preece shared a post on their page revealing that the pair will not be able to play for Villa when the season resumes, even if they are fit to do so.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this latest development.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
#PL confirm Tom Heaton & Wesley cannot play for #AVFC when season resumes https://t.co/xMHMgYVCwX
Remember, physio hinted at w/c June 29 for Wesley's return date

Doesn’t surprise me. But both could be fully fit by the time football even resumes, and the PL might have to be more flexible with some of these rulings amid the stance of the season being extended ‘indefinitely’ and free agents having their contracts extended beyond June #avfc

@theswirly – shame this, especially Heaton

Yeah this won’t happen. The changes will have to be made

Should Heaton and Wesley be allowed to return to the Villa squad when fit?
Yes
No
Both Heaton and Wesley suffered season-ending injuries back in early January in Villa’s 2-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. According to Preece’s article in the Birmingham Mail he included in his Twitter post, Dean Smith removed the pair from Villa’s playing squad when the seriousness of their injuries were ascertained. The article also claims that a Premier League official confirmed that the current Villa squad list will be the same as it was before football was suspended, meaning Heaton and Wesley will not be able to return to the Villa squad.
If they’re back fit (which they probably will be when the season resumes) it’s ridiculous if they aren’t allowed to play

Thats disappointing.

We’d get by with Samatta up front but we need Heaton back because for some crazy reason, despite Nyland performing wonders in goal and Reina being awful. Smith won’t drop Pepe.

What do we think?
It’s a shame that the pair will not see any action for Villa if the Premier League returns and they are fit to play again.
