Some West Ham United fans have been reacting to a tweet from Hammers-focused Twitter account @whufc_news, which has recently shared the news that Moyes has allegedly “set a 25-year-old age ceiling on new signings”.

The account cited reports regarding Moyes’ alleged transfer strategy which originally surfaced from West Ham-focused news website Claret and Hugh back in January, whose sources claimed that the 56-year-old manager’s “vision was to buy players 25 years of age or under”.

Moyes began his second spell as manager of West Ham just prior to the January transfer window, signing with the club on 29th December. The Hammers made three additions to their squad in January – one of whom, Jarrod Bowen, is currently under 25 years old, while Tomas Soucek only turned 25 in recent weeks. Meanwhile, 32-year-old goalkeeper Darren Randolph also joined West Ham as goalkeeping cover.

Some Hammers fans have been reacting to @whufc_news’ recent tweet which shares Moyes’ alleged transfer policy. Read the responses from some West Ham supporters to this post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

In addition to the report which claimed that Moyes’ transfer strategy at West Ham would see the club target players under the age of 25, Claret and Hugh has also recently reported that Moyes “will be discussing the way forward on scouting staff and a long-term policy for the club” during the current extended break from professional football.

While some West Ham fans have reacted with a sense of apprehension to these recent reports on social media, it may be a positive for the club that the manager is using a time when there will be no Premier League fixtures played to organise a transfer policy which could see the Hammers target some promising young players, if the reports from Claret and Hugh prove true.
