Some West Brom fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account to share support for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The recent tweet from The Baggies’ official Twitter account acknowledged Johnstone’s recent form, praising the goalkeeper for keeping “three clean sheets in his last four games in total”, in addition to keeping “three clean sheets in his last four away games”.
Johnstone has conceded just one goal in his last four appearances for The Baggies, according to WhoScored.com, keeping three clean sheets in that time.
It may be fair to say that the goalkeeper played an important role in West Brom’s 0-0 draw with Swansea City last Saturday. Johnstone made two saves in Saturday’s game, versus a Swansea side who only managed to hit the target with two of their nine shots at goal this past weekend.
West Brom struggled to be clinical in attack versus Swansea, only managing to hit the target with one of their 10 shots at goal in this game., It may have been particularly important for Johnstone and the West Brom defence to perform in this one, considering that their side struggled to trouble the opposition goalkeeper here.
Some West Brom fans have shared their appreciation for Johnstone’s form in response to the tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account, sharing the goalkeeper’s recent clean sheets record. What do we think?
The 26-year-old goalkeeper has played in all 37 of West Brom’s Championship fixtures during the 2019/20 Championship campaign thus far, keeping a total of 10 clean sheets.
With Johnstone between the sticks, West Brom have conceded a total of just 37 goals in their 37 Championship games so far this season. Only Brentford and Leeds United have currently conceded a fewer amount of goals than Johnstone’s West Brom side.
Considering West Brom’s impressive defensive record, it may be fair to praise the 26-year-old goalkeeper for his role in helping The Baggies to achieve a better defensive record than the vast majority of Championship teams so far this season.
