Some West Brom fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Inter forward Romelu Lukaku in which he reflects positively on his time at The Hawthorns.

A West Brom supporter recently took to Twitter to ask Baggies midfielder, Romaine Sawyers, what his “favourite Albion game” is from a fan’s perspective. The 28-year-old midfielder responded to this question via a tweet of his own, naming the Baggies’ 5-5 draw with Manchester United from the 2012/13 season as his favourite, giving a special mention to Lukaku’s performance in that game which he describes as a “masterclass”.

Sawyers’ tweet prompted a response from Lukaku himself, who shared that he also has fond memories of that 5-5 draw with Manchester United, a game in which he scored a hat-trick

The Inter striker’s tweet caught the attention of some West Brom fans who have been responding with admiration for the ex-Baggies attacker. Some West Brom supporters have even taken the opportunity to call for Lukaku to make a return to the Hawthorns in response to the Belgian international’s tweet. To kick off our quiz on the inaugural 2004/05 EFL Championship campaign, who managed Sunderland to a first-place finish in the 2004/05 Championship season?

What do we think?

Lukaku spent just one season at The Hawthorns, having joined the club on loan from Chelsea for the 2012/13 campaign. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the Belgian forward scored 17 goals and made seven assists in his 35 Premier League appearances during the 2012/13 Premier League season. Only five players scored more Premier League goals than Lukaku that term.

It may be fair to say that the Belgian forward enjoyed a successful loan spell at West Brom, considering his impressive goalscoring record. As a result, it may be understandable why he may look back fondly on his time at The Hawthorns, and in particular, this 5-5 draw with Manchester United in which he scored a hat-trick.
