Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting negatively on social media in response to comments that were recently made by the club’s owner Dejphon Chansiri regarding his plans for the club.

Yorkshire Live’s Dom Howson took to Twitter to share an interview that he recently conducted with the Sheffield Wednesday owner. Howson’s tweet shares a quote from one part of this interview, in which Chansiri claimed that he is happy at Wednesday at the moment, revealing that he currently plans to pass it “to (his) son”.

This tweet caught the attention of some Wednesday fans, who have been reacting negatively to the news that Chansiri may intend to remain as the owner of the club for the long term, with some Owls supporters indicating that they would prefer to see him sell the club.

In addition to this revelation, Chansiri declared that he still wants to “fulfil the fans’ dreams” of getting back to the Premier League in this interview, explaining that he wants “there to be a strong foundation” for when he passes the club to his son.

According to a report by The Guardian from December 2018, Chansiri did previously claim that he intended to sell Sheffield Wednesday. However, his recent interview with Yorkshire Live suggests that he may have had a change of heart in this regard.

If Chansiri’s claims that he wants to help the club get back to the Premier League in order to leave “a strong foundation” for his son when he eventually takes the reins at Hillsborough are to be believed, then his decision to remain at the club may be a positive one for Owls fans who may wish to see their club play in the top-flight for the first time since being relegated from the Premier League back in the 1999/00 season
