What do we think?

Chansiri’s Thai Union Frozen Group completed its takeover of Sheffield Wednesday in January 2015.

Speaking with The Independent in March 2015, Stuart Gray, the club’s manager at the time, claimed that Chansiri “is willing to invest in a new pitch” for the club. With the club’s manager having publicly revealed Chansiri’s intention to invest in a new pitch for the club just over a month after his takeover was confirmed, it appears as though improving the team’s pitch may have been one of the owner’s immediate objectives at Wednesday.

Wednesday’s official website subsequently confirmed that “the foundations” of what they described as a “brand new state-of-the-art” pitch were being laid in June 2015. It appears as though some Owls supporters may have appreciated Chansiri for beginning the process of improving the club’s pitch within his first six months as owner of the club, with some supporters recently claiming that this is still the best thing he has done for the club during his tenure.
