Sheffield Wednesday suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday night and as a result, they were eliminated from the FA Cup. Sergio Aguero’s second-half strike was the only goal of the game and despite Joe Wildsmith’s best efforts he couldn’t keep it out.
The game was televised on BBC Sport and some fans took issue with the co-commentator Martin Keown whose performance has come in for much criticism.
Was Martin Keown just ill-prepared for his commentary?

Martin Keown spending the entirety of the second half questioning why 12th place in the Championship Sheffield Wednesday who have conceded 11 goals in their last 4 home games, aren’t pushing 11 men up the pitch against one of the best teams in the world. Absolutely clueless #swfc

Martin Keown actually says in commentary that Dom Iorfa hasn’t played much this season. He’s played 31 out of 36 league games. 35 games in all competitions. How does he keep getting a gig? @BBCMOTD #swfc

Imagine turning up to do your job as unprepared as Martin Keown #swfc

Some one put Di Canoi it the commentary box with Keown. That’ll shut him up ?#swfc

What do we think?
Based on the replies, we can assume the Sheffield Wednesday supporters watching the game on television felt Martin Keown had failed to do his homework before the fixture and the former Everton, Arsenal and Leicester City defender’s performance was one of incompetence rather than bias.
However, commentary aside, the Owls can be proud of their efforts. Joe Wildsmith and Dominic Iorfa in particular, impressed on the night earning performance ratings of 7.3/10 according to WhoScored.com.
