This week Rangers FC fans reacted to a post retweeted by Josh Windass. The original post was shared by David Weir and included a picture of him standing next to Lionel Messi after the Gers lost 2-0 to the Catalonian giants back in 2007.
Windass left a comment in his retweet, referencing the clean sheet the Gers achieved during the 0-0 Ibrox match earlier in 2007.
The comment amused many Gers fans who commented on how effective Weir was against Messi. They think that the Scotsman gave the Argentinian nightmares for weeks, claiming that he spent most of the match in Weir’s back pocket. One admitted that they would have liked to have seen Windass stay for another season too.
Here are a few of the responses to Windass’ tweet.

Who is more of a GOAT?
David Weir - obviously
Lionel Messi - marginally
What do we think?
Weir is currently a member of Rangers’ Hall of Fame on the club’s website. Despite joining the club at 37 years of age, Weir spent five years at Ibrox, leaving with eight major honours to his name. He made a total of 231 appearances for the Gers, managing to snag himself five goals along the way.
