This week Rangers’ assistant manager Michael Beale was left frustrated after Scottish Sun journalist Colin Duncan published an article that seemingly twisted Beale’s words from another interview.

In the original interview, Beale was pressed to answer the difficult question as to how a potentially suspended Scottish Premiership could determine a winner. He explained that each league could find themselves making a different decision. With Liverpool running away with the English Premier League, their FA could decide to hand them the title.

However, he suggested that because it was so hard to predict the outcome of future Scottish Premiership matches, one solution could be to look back at the moment when each team had played each other twice.

Unfortunately, Duncan interpreted this as Beale’s plea with the Scottish FA to determine the league this way. The biggest distinction between the original interview and Ducan’s interpretation is the use of the words ‘could’ and ‘should’.

When Beale tweeted his frustrations on Twitter, Rangers fans suggested that he should attempt to ignore the Scottish media. They don’t believe the Scottish journalists have any integrity and would much rather spin things into a negative.

It certainly must be frustrating to have your words twisted, so we understand Beale’s frustration. However, despite his article’s issues, Duncan’s piece does find some logistical flaws with the potential solution brainstormed by Steven Gerrard’s assistant.
