Fans of Nottingham Forest have been reacting to Andy Reid’s post on Twitter, in which the Nottingham Forest U23 coach discusses the visit of Forest legend Stuart Pearce to the Reds’ U23 training session.

Pearce spent 12 years at the club, which included taking Nottingham Forest to the quarter-finals of the 1995/96 UEFA Cup.

The 57-year-old also managed the Reds over two spells, first as a player-coach in 96/97, as well as taking charge as manager in the 2014/15 Championship season, in which he lasted 32 games and averaged 1.25 points per match.

Although the former left-back, who earned 78 caps for England, has been out of work since his spell as David Moyes’ assistant manager at West Ham in 2017/18, Pearce recently returned to Forest to assist in training for Chris Cohen’s U23 team.

Following the session, Andy Reid, who is also a coach for the Nottingham Forest youth side, took to Twitter, stating his gratitude for Pearce’s appearance, stating: “Fantastic to have Stuart in with us today, he’s an inspiration to us and for our young players to learn from him is special for them!”

In reaction to Reid’s post, Forest fans have taken to social media, with many reminiscing about Pearce’s time at the club, while others stated how pleasing it is to see that their former player still holds the club in high regard.

What do we think?

Pearce’s presence with the Under-23 side will likely have inspired Forest’s youngsters, as the 57-year-old, who spent the majority of his career with the Reds, went on to have an excellent career following his Forest days, playing for sides such as Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Manchester City.
