Fans of Nottingham Forest have been discussing City Ground HQ’s post on Twitter, which asks Forest fans who they would like to face in the Championship play-offs should the club secure a top-six spot this season.

Forest have been performing well above pre-season expectations so far, with Sabri Lamouchi’s side currently occupying fourth place in the Championship table, eight points behind Leeds United in second and six points ahead of Bristol City in seventh.

Despite being widely unfancied for promotion, Forest have pulled off some remarkable results throughout the season, defeating Leeds United 2-0, drawing 2-2 with table-toppers West Brom at The Hawthorns, and being only one of two sides to leave Cardiff City with all three points this season.

However, the Reds are currently on a run of just one win in their last five games, putting a dent in their automatic promotion hopes, and with just 10 fixtures of the season remaining, a play-off place would now appear the most likely finish for Forest.

As such, City Ground HQ posed a question on Twitter, asking Reds fans who they would like to face should the club finish in the play-off positions.

In reaction, Forest fans replied in their droves, with many claiming that Brentford would be their opponent of choice, while others said they didn’t mind, as long as their club ensure they don’t slip out of the top six before the end of the season.

What do we think?

With Fulham, Brentford and Preston North End currently occupying the three other play-off places, statistically speaking, Forest fans would likely prefer to face Brentford in the semi-final, having already defeated the Bees home and away this season.

However, the Reds also took three points from Craven Cottage, beating Fulham 2-1, and still have to face the third-placed side at the City Ground in their next 10 fixtures.

Similarly, Forest have only faced Preston once so far this term, in a match that finished in a 1-1 draw at the City Ground back in August.
