Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting to footage that has been shared on social media of Mike Ashley outside of The Hawthorns following their recent FA Cup fixture with West Brom.

The footage, which was shared by Newcastle United-focused Twitter account @MagpieChannel_ following Newcastle’s 3-2 FA Cup win over West Brom this past Tuesday, shows Ashley entering a car outside of The Hawthorns.

Ashley, who completed his takeover of Newcastle United in July 2007, has been an unpopular figure among some Newcastle supporters throughout his tenure as owner of the club. The owner’s popularity would have only decreased in recent times following last summer’s departure of Rafael Benitez from the club.

The Spanish manager claimed that “those at the top of the club did not share the same vision” as him when explaining the reason for his departure from the Magpies, an explanation that is unlikely to fill Toon fans with confidence in their current owner.

Some Newcastle fans have reacted negatively to the footage showing Ashley leaving The Hawthorns following Tuesday’s FA Cup fixture. Read the negative reactions of some Magpies fans to the recently released footage of Ashley leaving The Hawthorns in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Some Newcastle fans have made their feelings clear in recent times that they want Ashley to “get out” of the club, as the text that accompanies the footage of Ashley leaving the Hawthorns in this tweet states. Given the Newcastle owner’s lack of popularity with some Magpies supporters, as is evident in the tweets above, it may be understandable why some Toon fans reacted negatively to this footage of Ashley leaving The Hawthorns.
