Middlesbrough have announced via their official website that season cards for the 2020/21 season are now on sale. Jonathan Woodgate’s side currently find themselves in 19th place in the Championship, just two points clear of Charlton Athletic in the drop-zone despite defeating the Addicks at the Valley last weekend.
Some of the club’s supporters have taken issue with the headline of the announcement which reads ‘Breaking New Ground’ and took to social media in order to express their displeasure regarding the choice of words.
Will Boro survive relegation this season?
Yes
No
Woodgate on the picture does not inspire anyone with confidence.

I'm all for getting behind the manager but I can't take this seriously. Hats off to whoever wrote the editorial. Should be working for a political party with that sort of positive spin. You can't polish a turd but at least you can sprinkle glitter on it ?

Breaking new ground. Bet the cue is miles long. (NOT) I’m afraid you have conned all the fans last season with your promise of a Footballing Manager. I’d be very very very surprised if anyone renewed there ticket again

“ Visiting new grounds” would be more suitable

What do we think?
Whilst we appreciate the club wish to give their supporters plenty of notice ahead of the 2020/21 season, given the team’s precarious league position and the wording chosen, in our view, this was always going to spark a negative reaction. Boro take on Swansea City at the Riverside on Saturday in desperate need of three points to create some distance between themselves and the bottom three. However, the Swans recently held West Bromwich Albion to a draw and have lost just one of their last six Championship fixtures.
