Some Leeds fans have been reacting on social media to a recent tweet from the club’s official Twitter account which shared the EFL’s decision to postpone English football matches “until 3 April at the earliest”.
The EFL confirmed the postponement of professional football “in England until 3 April at the earliest”, in a statement shared via their official website. Leeds United shared this statement via Twitter, in addition to their own official website, leedsunited.com, following the EFL’s announcement, catching the attention of many Whites supporters.
Some Leeds supporters have been reacting with concern to the latest announcement revealing that English football is set to face postponement “until 3 April at the earliest”. Currently sitting in first place in the Championship table with just nine games left to be played in the league season, it may be fair to say that the Whites were on course to achieve promotion to England’s top flight this season for the first time since the 2003/04 campaign when Leeds were relegated from the Premier League.

What do we think?
Considering their promising positioning in the Championship table heading into the final nine games of the league season, it may be understandable why some Leeds supporters have shown concern at the EFL’s recent announcement, as there may be some uncertainty regarding the completion of the 2019/20 season following the postponement of games.
However, postponing games may be necessary in order to prevent the spread of the current viral outbreak. Following the news that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi have both tested positive for the disease, football may need to take a back seat for now.
