Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford hasn’t scored since January 28th. The 26-year-old managed a brace that day against Millwall and his side ran out 3-2 winners but since then, his luck in front of goal has been rotten, to say the least.
Last weekend, Tyler Roberts came on as a substitute to replace Bamford and scored two goals at Hull City. The 21-year-old centre-forward has been talking about his teammate’s goal drought with the Yorkshire Post and here’s what some of the supporters have made of his comments.
Is Patrick Bamford in need of a rest?
Yes
No
That’s the only thing he could have said, tbh. Something that seems lacking in Bamford, in spite of his effort, is that unquantifiable quality known as striker’s instinct.

He isnt clinical but the shifts he puts in for the team can’t even be questioned. He does alot of the ugly work and gets zero credit for it we only focus on the lack of goals which I do agree is part of his job . Personally think he needs a break

I’m no bamford hater and like others appreciate the graft he does but I don’t think that can always be used in his defence as all the team work hard that’s how we play look at the graft Harrison etc put in I wouldn’t say it’s any less them bamford

I think Bamford does put in a lot of mileage during the matches, and he has been unlucky on a number of occasions. I reckon MB will start with PB and then bring TR on as an impact sub when the defence have slowed a little.

What do we think?
Patrick Bamford has scored 12 goals in 35 Championship appearances this season but in the eyes of these supporters, that’s not a good enough return. His tremendous work rate is something that many were keen to highlight, proving that at least that aspect of the former Middlesbrough striker’s game is appreciated.
However, contrary to fan opinion, we can assume that Marcelo Bielsa feels that Bamford brings something to the table none of his other options can because he has been selected in the starting eleven for 94% of their league fixtures this season (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
