Leeds United’s rising star Ben White played in a defensive-midfield role for Marcelo Bielsa’s side versus Huddersfield Town in last weekend’s Yorkshire Derby. The Whites ran out 2-0 winners and as a result, climbed to the top of the Championship, leapfrogging West Bromwich Albion in the process.
White, who is on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, has played in all of Leeds United’s 37 league fixtures this season (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and has proved to be an integral part of Bielsa’s success. Ben White’s performance versus the Terriers earned him a performance rating of 6.81/10 via WhoScored.com. Although he is due to return to Brighton at the end of this current campaign, it remains to be seen whether or not the Whites will attempt to sign the £6.3m-rated loanee on a permanent deal. The Athletic’s Phil Hay suggested in a recent Q&A that Marcelo Bielsa’s side would have a greater chance of signing the 22-year-old if they were to earn promotion and the Seagulls were to drop down into the Championship.
