Leeds United are being linked with a move for Besiktas striker Cyle Larin. According to Fotospor (via Sport Witness), the Turkish club are said to be keen to sell the forward, who is currently on loan at Zulte Waregem in Belgium.

The Whites were previously said to be interested (via Leeds Live) in bringing the Canadian striker to Elland Road. However, it’s understood that Zulte Waregem have the option to sign the player in a permanent deal for €2.5m (£2.27m) which complicates matters for the Championship leaders if they’re genuinely interested.

TIF Tactics – An upgrade on Patrick Bamford?

In 33 appearances in all competitions, Larin has scored nine goals and provided 11 assists to date (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

He has started in 97% of his club’s league fixtures so far and has become a mainstay in Francky Dury’s side. The Canadian international moved to Turkey from MLS club Orlando City in January 2018. However, the question is, would he be an upgrade on Patrick Bamford?

At what date do the EFL intend to resume matches after temporarily suspending games due to the viral outbreak?

Neither of the strikers have shown themselves to be particularly prolific. Larin has scored a league goal on average once in every 4.14 games, compared to Bamford who scores a goal once in every 2.77 games. However, the 24-year-old has provided seven assists more than the Leeds frontman despite having played seven league games fewer.

Leeds United could be looking to strengthen in the centre-forward position if they achieve promotion to the Premier League but as far as Larin is concerned, in our view, given the numbers, we’re not convinced he would be enough of an upgrade on Bamford.
