A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to a tweet from Phil Hay with an update on the potential impact of coronavirus on the rest of the Championship season.
What do you think will happen to the rest of the season?
Played behind closed doors
Made null and void
Called off, league positions stay as they are
League continues as normal
Hay was asked by one fan what the protocol is if all games are cancelled, and The Athletic reporter said that one option would be to declare the league positions as they are, but that would come with complications and complaints.
This has drawn a reaction from these Leeds fans who feel that the EFL would not do that.
one option would be to declare the final positions as they are but needless to say, that’s wouldn’t be without complications or complaints. Uncharted territory to say the least.

With Leeds being top I somehow don’t imagine that will happen. Totally unique situation so who knows but I don’t think they will make it that easy for us!

This can’t be a serious suggestion? The season needs to finish even if it takes longer. Delaying the Euros for a year to make time makes much more sense. As does playing behind closed doors if needed. The farce of this is open air events don’t actually present much risk

Surely the EFL wouldn’t be so stupid to play Leeds United games behind closed doors. For a potential promotion game you would get even more fans attending the city and stadium thus making the decision pointless

We all know that, with Leeds top, that’s not even an option.

Other Whites supporters, though, would be very happy to see the EFL make that decision.
Work out the final table based on form. The last 5 games should do!

Announce Coronapromotion!

If we get through to next midweek game v Fulham that would be 39 games played/85% of competition done. Surely it would be more appropriate to call current league positions final than cancel league

Works for me ?

What do we think?
Hay said that this is uncharted territory, and we find it hard to disagree with him.
The uncertainty over the impact of the virus is hard to describe – though Hay believes that before they even consider postponing or suspending the league games will be played behind closed doors.
In our opinion, this could be getting closer after the announcement that the match between Manchester City and Arsenal was postponed due to fears over the Arsenal squad coming in to contact with Olympiacos’ owner Evangelos Marinakis – who has tested positive for coronavirus.
Leeds fans will hope that the EFL do not cancel the season, or all their hard work could be undone.
