Some Fulham fans have been discussing which of their former defenders they would take back if they were looking to tighten up their defence. Only Brentford, West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United have superior defensive records in the Championship this season.
However, the question was put to the supporters via the club’s official Twitter account and there was one name in particular that kept cropping up.

Is Brede Hangeland Fulham's best defender in the Premier League era?

Hangeland for sure but I’d put him with Ream for sure as my center back pair. And a special shout out to Carlos Bocanegra. ??????????COYW!

What do we think?
Brede Hangeland signed for Fulham in January 2008 for £2.97m from FC Copenhagen and went on to play 272 times for the Cottagers (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). The 6ft 5in defender contributed 12 goals during his time with Fulham and it’s clear from the responses above that the fans still hold the Norwegian in very high regard.
Hangeland eventually left for Crystal Palace almost six-and-a-half years after arriving in London and went on to make 26 appearances for the Eagles. He retired in 2016 but despite joining a city rival his excellent reputation amongst the Fulham faithful remains intact.
