Phillip Cocu’s Derby County were no match for Manchester United last night, and as a result, they were eliminated from this season’s FA Cup. All the talk was about Wayne Rooney in the build-up as he prepared to face his former club but it was another striker who stole the headlines in Odion Ighalo.
The Rams only managed half the attempts at goal their opponents did on the night (as per BBC Sport) but arguably their biggest disappointment was losing Tom Lawrence, who is valued at £5.4 million (as per Transfermarkt), just before half time. Here’s how the fans reacted to the 26-year-old being forced off.
Will Tom Lawrence be missed?
Yes
No
Just our luck that when Lawrence finally finds some consistency, he goes and gets injured ????? #dcfc

If you ever wanted anything more to sum up the #DCFC fan base:
Just take a look at how upset everyone is with Lawrence’s injury ?
Same fans wanted him out of our club 8 weeks ago ????

Meanwhile, others weren’t impressed by his performance up until that point.
Lawrence needs to do way more #dcfc

What do we think?
Up until his substitution, Lawrence’s performance was rated at 5.7/10 according to WhoScored.com – which is significantly lower than his average league rating, which currently stands at 7.01/10.
The cup run has come to an end for the Rams, who will now shift their focus towards their game versus Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
