Some Celtic fans have been left fuming by the latest transfer update about their central defender Kristoffer Ajer.
Recently, Ajer’s agent Tore Pedersen told Norwegian news agency NTB (via Sporten) and revealed that the defender will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave in the upcoming summer transfer window.
He said (as translated by the Daily Record): “He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer. There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.
“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Kristoffer.”
Are you offended by Ajer and his agent?
Absolutely, it was a bad thing to say
No, he can say what he wants
On reading this, many Celtic fans were angry and they would not have a problem if the centre-back leaves.
Wouldn’t lose a winks sleep if Ajer left in the summer tbh. His form has been rotten most of the season.

He’s been absolutely a donkey this season anyway.. poor defender in Europe always panics for no reason.

Get a decent bit of money for him (age considered) and tbh I wouldn’t be that bothered.

He’s had a horrendous season so far. If we get big money take it and replace him

Hope it’s true because I’ve never rated him

Will be no great loss if we invest the money wisely but that’s that’s a big if

This season, Ajer has made as many as 49 appearances in all competitions this season. He has scored four goals, picking up two assists as well. He recently scored a late winner in Celtic’s game against Aberdeen.
What do we think?
Ajer is still 21 and his current deal runs out in the summer of 2022. It shows that Celtic could get a good value out of a potential sale in the summer if his agent’s comments are to be taken seriously. Youngster Stephen Welsh has already made his debut for the first-team and if Ajer does leave, he could perhaps make the step up to regular first-team football.
