Some Celtic fans have been debating a substitution from their recent 1-0 win over St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.

The game had seen Jonny Hayes come on for Greg Taylor in the second half, and when the Hoops’ Twitter account posted about the change, it got many fans talking.

Should Hayes renew his Celtic contract?

No, don't want him at Parkhead

Some weren’t happy with the substitution but others only encouraged Hayes to make an impact.

Hayes has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops this season and 14 of them have come in the Premiership. The former Aberdeen man has one goal in the Premiership and that came against fierce rivals Rangers earlier in the campaign.

He is yet to make a single start in the Scottish Cup, having come off the bench against Clyde and against St. Johnstone at the weekend.

What do we think?

While one can see why Celtic fans might not be happy considering Hayes isn’t a natural left-back (with 19 appearances from that position in his whole career) and the game was still level at the time. But in the long run, this substitution will hardly matter for either the club or the two players involved since Celtic did manage to win the game eventually.
