Image for Brentford: Fans flock to recent Neal Maupay tweet

Some Brentford fans have flocked to respond to a tweet that was recently posted by ex-Bees forward Neal Maupay, who has shared an image of himself celebrating a goal from his time at Brentford.

Maupay, who scored 41 goals in 95 games for the Bees between the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, left Brentford in August 2019 to join Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2019/20 season.

The former Brentford attacker responded to a recent tweet from the Bees’ official Twitter account which asked people to “join the challenge of posting a football photo” with no description, by sharing a picture of himself celebrating in a Brentford shirt in front of Leeds United supporters. This tweet has caught the attention of some Bees fans who have been responding with praise for their former attacker.

To kick off our quiz on the inaugural 2004/05 EFL Championship campaign, who managed Sunderland to a first-place finish in the 2004/05 Championship season?

What do we think?

Having cost the club £1.8m in July 2017, it may be fair to say that signing Maupay was a wise decision from Brentford, as they went on to sell the former France U21 international for £19.8m just over two years later, making an £18m profit on the attacker.

Considering the impact that Maupay made in front of goal for the Bees during his time at the club, in addition to the sizeable profit that the club made on his transfer fee, it may be understandable why some Brentford fans look back positively on Maupay and his time at Griffin Park.
