Some Birmingham City fans have been reacting to a recent tweet from manager Pep Clotet, in which he discussed Blues legend, Trevor Francis.
Clotet recently spent time answering questions from some Blues fans on social media. One Birmingham City supporter took the opportunity to ask Clotet, if he “could have any ex-Blues player in (his) squad now”, who would he pick. Clotet answered this question by stating that he would “love to see” Francis play for Birmingham City today.
Francis “scored 119 goals in 280 league appearances” for Birmingham City according to the BBC. The former Birmingham player previously held the distinction of being the Blues’ youngest ever player when he made his first appearance for the club in 1970 before Jude Bellingham broke that record “on 6 August 2019”.
Bellingham also “became the youngest player to score for Birmingham City” after scoring his first goal for the club in Birmingham City’s 2-1 win over Stoke City on the 31st of August 2019, a record which was also previously held by Francis.
Some Blues supporters have been reacting to Clotet’s statement that he would “love to see” Francis in his Birmingham side. Read the replies of some Blues fans to Clotet’s recent post about Francis in the tweets below.
I keep being told about Trevor Francis, so I’d love to see him play for us now. #BrumChat https://t.co/XHEDsPr2tC

He was unbelievable Pep. He’d be up there with Ronaldo and Messi.Unfortunately he suffered a couple of bad injuries when he was in his prime. Have a look on youtube. He was a real legend.

What do we think?
Considering that Francis had held the record of being the Blues’ youngest ever player, in addition to being the youngest player to ever score for the club before Bellingham broke both records this season, it may be understandable why Clotet would choose him as the ex-Birmingham player he would most like to see in the current Birmingham City squad.
