Some Birmingham City fans have been reacting on social media to a post from the Blues’ official Twitter account which shares footage of a trailer documenting Maikel Kieftenbeld’s return from injury.

Kieftenbeld, who played 35+ games in each of his first four seasons at Birmingham City, had his 2018/19 campaign cut short when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Blues’ 1-0 win over Leeds United on the sixth of April 2019. While initial reports suggested that the Dutchman would miss “six to nine months”, the 29-year-old midfielder subsequently missed 311 days of action for the Blues while recovering from his injury.

However, Kieftenbeld finally made his long-awaited return to the Blues’ squad on the 15th of February, as he sat on the bench during Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Brentford. The 29-year-old subsequently returned to the pitch 11 days later when he made his first appearance of the 2019/20 season, making an 18-minute cameo appearance in the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Millwall on the 26th of February.

Birmingham City’s official Twitter account recently made a post which shared footage of Kieftenbeld making much more than a cameo appearance in what appeared to be a documentary-style trailer chronicling the midfielder’s return from injury. The footage was accompanied with the message “coming soon. 06.03.20.”.

Some Blues fans responded positively to the footage documenting Kieftenbeld’s return from injury. Read the reactions of some Birmingham City fans to the recent footage posted by the Blues’ Twitter account in the tweets below.

What do we think?

The documentary-style footage, along with the message that accompanied it in Birmingham City’s tweet, may indicate that the club will be releasing a documentary on the 29-year-old midfielder’s return from injury. The “06.03.20” date that the Blues sent out along with the trailer may be announcing that the documentary is set to be released this Friday, the sixth of March, 2020.

Birmingham City’s official YouTube channel also posted the trailer footage documenting Kieftenbeld’s return. The YouTube video is accompanied with the message “coming soon to BluesTV”, which can be seen written in the video description. Blues fans may be treated to the full documentary on Kieftenbeld’s return this Friday on BluesTV, Birmingham City’s online video service.
