Serie A giants AC Milan are looking to make a move to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports.

Italian outlet Tuttosport (via MilanNews) claims that the Rossoneri are looking to shore up their backline in the summer and they see Ajer as part of that improvement strategy. The report states that the defender will leave Parkhead in the summer and will not renew his deal with Celtic.

It is also stated by the outlet that Ajer is the subject of interest from many other European clubs.

Delicate situation

Ajer’s situation at Celtic is currently uncertain following his agent’s comments to Norwegian news agency NTB (via Sporten) about the player potentially leaving the club in the summer. His agent had gone on to state that there is no shortage of clubs being interested in his client.

This season, Ajer has made as many as 49 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops. 28 of them have come in the Premiership, scoring three goals.

TIF Tactics

Ajer’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2022 and if his agent is to be believed, he won’t extend it beyond that. In that sense, selling Ajer in the summer may be a good option in the long run as it could give Celtic the chance to cash in while his stock is reportedly high.
