Fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers have been reacting to Matt Doherty’s post on Twitter, in which the 28-year-old reflects on Wolves’ 3-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.

Doherty, who joined Wolves from Bohemians in 2010, has been in fine form for Wolves this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in his 26 Premier League appearances, as well a further two goals and one assist in seven Europa League fixtures.

The latest of his Premier League goals came on Sunday, with the right-back scoring Wolves’ first of the match, before his side went on to defeat Spurs 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The result means that Wolves have leap-frogged their defeated opponents in the table into sixth place, level on points with Manchester United, who occupy fifth place, and just three points behind Chelsea in fourth.

Following the match, the £18 million-rated Doherty took to Twitter, reflecting on the magnitude of Wolves’ win, to which fans of the club have been replying with messages of congratulations, as well as stating their optimism for the future of the club.

What do we think?

It is quite remarkable to think that Doherty made his Premier League debut for Wolves in 2011.

In the time since, Wolves have been relegated to the Championship and League One, promoted back to the Championship and the Premier League, qualified for the Europa League, reached the round of 16 in the Europa League, and are currently challenging for a Champions League place this season.

All the while, the 28-year-old has performed consistently for the club, taking every new challenge in his stride, and has shown no sign of stopping yet.
