Supporters of Wolverhampton Wanderers have shown that they are gutted with an update from Tim Spiers on the Old Gold’s Europa League clash with Olympiakos.
According to the Athletic reporter, the Greek government has ruled that all sporting events should take place behind closed doors for the next two weeks so supporters should ‘hold fire’ on booking flights to Greece (per Tim Spiers), which had fans gutted.
Greek government has ruled that all sporting events should take place behind closed doors for the next 2 weeks. No confirmation on Thursday's Wolves game yet – will update asap – but if you're looking to buy a ticket/flight probably best to hold fire for now #WWFC

Gutting for the away fans, but might work to Wolves advantage, theyll be no hostile atmosphere to deal with and Olympicaos will almost lose their home advantage.

This is a joke if true, will lose out on £200 flights plus hotel. First chance to see Wolves away in Europe and this happens. Typical.

It would be a tragedy if it has to be played behind closed doors…A Greek Tragedy I suppose

Do you believe that Wolves will defeat Olympiakos over the two-legged tie?Yes, we'll be heading to the quarter-finalsNo, they're a bit too strong for us sadly |
The Old Gold are due to travel to Greece for the away leg of their Europa League round-of-16 tie later this week on Thursday 12th March (per BBC).
However, following Tim Spiers’ update on Twitter, Wolves supporters continued to air their concerns that they may miss out on the clash if the ruling counts for the game.
I don’t think this will be the end of it. I have strong feeling UEFA may impose a wider restriction at some point & we may see home leg suffer same restriction. Really hope not but it’s moving that way I fear

Bad timing, just back home from booking flights and accommodation….

First time I manage to get tickets……. gutted.

What do we think?
While it is completely understandable that some supporters are disappointed or angry that flights and hotels may have been booked in vain, if the ruling helps prevent the spread of coronavirus then it can only be a good thing.
As Spiers suggested, though, it would be sensible to hang fire from making any hard and fast decisions before official confirmation on the tie is released (per Tim Spiers).
