Supporters of West Ham United have been reacting to a transfer link between the Hammers and Newcastle United’s Matty Longstaff.
According to TEAMtalk, the Irons are one of a number of clubs who are interested in acquiring the 20-year-old midfielder’s services (via West Ham News), which some were unhappy with.
Matty Longstaff could be set to leave Newcastle this summer, and West Ham are one of numerous clubs to have shown an interest in signing the 20-year-old.

Not what we need and would probs cost 15-20m. No thanks! Far better players out there for a similar price

Would you be happy if West Ham signed Matty Longstaff on a free transfer?Yes, he seems a decent talentNo, not good enough for us |
Despite one supporter suggesting that Longstaff would cost the London club too much money, the 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer and would be available for compensation only (per Transfermarkt).
So, while some supporters were unhappy with the notion of David Moyes making a move to sign the Toon’s youngster, other supporters were keen to see it happen.
Matty Longstaff would be a sensible addition to the West Ham squad if and when he becomes available from his current contract-based situation at Newcastle. If West Ham signed him for free, or for cheap, then he would be a good addition to the squad both long term and short term

Looks like a good young player think this would be a good signing

Will have to pay some form of compensation but would still be a very good signing imo, been impressed by him.

What do we think?
If there is any truth in the rumour and if there would be a possibility of signing Longstaff on a free transfer, the Englishman’s relatively respectable 6.63/10 average rating in the Premier League suggests it could be a decent move (per WhoScored).
However, West Ham fans seem divided over this one, with some still wanting the club to stay well away from the youngster despite what would be a relatively low outlay for his arrival.
