Spurs fans were devastated to hear that Jose Mourinho has no plans for a squad overhaul during the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese manager spoke in a press conference ahead of the FA Cup game against Norwich on Wednesday night and was asked about his plans for a summer overhaul, to which he replied: “No, not massive changes. First of all, that’s not what we think we need. 2nd because of the profile of our club and 3rd because of what the market is. Year after year, it’s more difficult. I’m not thinking of an overhaul.” per Daily Mail via Talking THFC
It is perhaps a surprise to hear that the 57-year-old is not planning any sort of overhaul, considering his side currently sit seventh in the Premier League and he has constantly made reference to the lack of a striker in his squad. However, the experienced manager reportedly had no money to spend to make signings in January, before bringing in Gedson Fernandes, Giovani Lo Celso, and Steven Bergwijn, so perhaps Lilywhites fans can still be hopeful of a summer overhaul.
Do Spurs need an overhaul in the summer?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to Mourinho’s quotes can be seen in the tweets below.
Always had a lot of respect for Mourinho, but if he thinks this lot is good enough to win anything he is either not as good as we thought or Levy has got his brainwashing in early. Let’s be honest, is this squad really worth world’s highest admission charges?

Then let’s settle for less then, and not win anything.

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t too happy to hear Mourinho’s thoughts ahead of the summer transfer window.
What do we think?
It is difficult to tell if Mourinho is being genuine with his suggestion but perhaps if the North London club aren’t playing in Europe next season, then their squad won’t be stretched as much and the current crop will prove to be enough.
