Tottenham fans took to Twitter to slate the performance of Hugo Lloris during the 3-0 defeat against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.
Spurs crashed out of the Champions League with a heavy defeat at the Red Bull Arena, as the French goalkeeper struggled throughout the game in Germany, earning a disappointing 6.15 rating for his performance, as per WhoScored. The World-Cup winning ‘keeper was arguably at fault for both first-half goals, as Marcel Sabitzer’s shot slipped under him before the Austrian beat him again at his near post with a header.
The 33-year-old spent much of the early season out injured, after dislocating his elbow in a 3-0 defeat at Brighton, meaning that the game in Germany was just his fourth appearance in the Champions League this season. The Frenchman has struggled in Europe, averaging a disappointing 5.96 rating in the competition.
Is Lloris past his best?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to Lloris’ performance can be seen in the tweets below.
Lloris not good enough tonight, but what was more concerning to me was as captain his reaction after both mistakes shrugging shoulders and moaning throwing his hand as if it was someone else’s problem! Too many players with no confidence! No leadership #THFC

Lloris once again putting the team under pressure and doing the oppositions work for them #COYS #THFC

We didnt have a chance from the start anyway, but I really dont think Loris is any good at all, past his time! #COYS #THFC #ChampionsLeague

So extremely disappointing that Lloris still does these junior mistakes. Twice in one game he lets us down. And we cannot pass the ball more than twice. Might as well have sent the junior team. Humiliated by a mediocre German team. #THFC #COYS

What have we learned tonight?
That Hugo Lloris is finished.
He might not be 100 % fit tongiht, but this is 3rd season where he is declining.#RBLTOT #ucl#thfc

Lloris at fault for both goals. He’s been shocking since his return #THFC #RBLTOT #COYS

These Spurs fans clearly weren’t impressed with Lloris’ performance in Leipzig and feel that his mistakes seriously cost their side.
What do we think?
Lloris, who is valued at £16.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), arguably should have done better for Leipzig’s first two goals and with the Frenchman performing poorly in the Champions League once again, perhaps Spurs should look to replace him in the summer.
