Spurs fans have been discussing former goalkeeper Pau Lopez on Twitter.
The Spurs Web asked if any supporters of the North London club could remember the Spanish goalkeeper; who didn’t make a single senior appearance for the Lilywhites in the season-long loan he spent at the club in the 2016/17 season. The 25-year-old is now a regular with Roma; having made 34 appearances for Paulo Fonseca’s side in all competitions so far this season.
The North London club had the option to sign the Spanish ‘keeper on a permanent deal but he clearly didn’t do enough to impress Mauricio Pochettino in his time in the Premier League, before returning to Espanyol and later earning a move to Real Betis, before joining Roma last summer.
Should Spurs have signed Lopez permanently?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the post on Lopez can be seen in the tweets below.
Well Poch didn’t play him, so you can’t just blame Levy.

One fan stated that the club had the chance to sign him, which is correct, but it was reported that Daniel Levy was unwilling to pay the €5 million (£4.55 million).
Had the chance to sign him for 7 million. Levy offered 2…….Is the penny starting to drop?!

These Spurs fans clearly seem to think that they should have signed Lopez and blame both Levy for not sanctioning the deal, as well as Pochettino for not playing the keeper during his time at the club.
What do we think?
Considering Lopez is now valued at £21.6 million by Transfermarkt and a regular in the Roma side, perhaps Spurs should have taken a chance on him back in 2016.
