Spurs fans have been discussing reported transfer target Kalvin Phillips after the Leeds man reportedly suggested that he wants to stay with the Championship side for the rest of his career.
Football Insider reported in February that Spurs could look to sign the midfielder if Leeds fail to earn promotion this season but with the 24-year-old suggesting to FourFourTwo magazine, as reported by the Express, that “I want to spend my career at Leeds and see the club doing well in the Premier League. I’m just enjoying every minute right now.” (via Ricky Sacks).
So far this season, the 24-year-old has averaged a superb 7.20 rating for his performances in the Championship, helping Marcelo Bielsa’s side to the top of the league in the process. With football currently suspended, it is unknown whether Leeds will achieve their promotion to the top flight, but it seems as if the Englishman will stay with his boyhood club regardless of whether they go up or not.
Are you disappointed that Phillips will most likely be staying with Leeds?
Yes, would have been a great signing
No, he isn't good enough
Reaction from Spurs fans to the quotes from Phillips can be seen in the tweets below.
Great player, would of loved him at spurs, but great to still see some loyalty in football

That’s too bad would have liked him here.
Although if that is true and he is happy being on a Championship/relegation team every year of his career maybe not the best player to bring in.

That’s some serious loyalty

Gutted, but glad to see he’s loyal

Let’s see if he’s saying that if they have another season or two in the championship

See you at Tottenham mate.

Loyalty but I’d more inclined to call it intelligence….he know if Leeds don’t get promoted in next year or two, the club will need to cash in on a prized asset…..still a fans favourite then

These Spurs fans are seemingly disappointed that Phillips probably won’t be joining the Lilywhites, but some fans saluted his loyalty to the Championship side.
What do we think?
It is good to see some loyalty from Phillips and hopefully, we will see more of the £13.5 million rated man in the Premier League with Leeds in the near future.
