How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

“The official confirmation of Marcus Edwards’ sale to Vitoria appeared to indicate that Spurs have a 50% sell-on clause for the youngster, perhaps in lieu of a prohibitive transfer fee. He also has a €15m (£13.6m) release clause in his contract.

“I can’t see Tottenham buying him back. It’s not really something they do and they struggled to get the best out of him the first time around.

“He’s a very talented young midfielder but he needs to make his way in the game now and show that he can be a star rather than a wasted talent. I really hope he does because he’s got all the ability in the world.”

TIF Tactics:

The 21-year-old made the move to Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes ahead of this season and has caught the eye with his performances in Liga NOS, averaging an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.29. The youngster also netted against Arsenal earlier this season in the Europa League, something which will naturally have put him back on the radar of some Spurs fans.

Mauricio Pochettino once suggested that Edwards reminded him of a young Lionel Messi, but it never really worked out for the winger at the North London club, as he made just one senior appearance for the Lilywhites before departing last year. Although Gold has suggested that he won’t be returning to the Premier League anytime soon, a release clause of £13.6 million may not be too much to pay if he does continue to impress in the future.
