Fans of Spurs have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which stated that Spurs are devastated about John McDermott’s departure after Alasdair Gold shared the news last week.
According to reports in the Athletic, the Spurs head of academy coaching and player development will leave to join the FA as assistant technical director in June.
In reaction to the report, which was relayed by RickSpur on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to share their opinion on McDermott’s departure, with some suggesting that the club had not particularly produced many top-drawer talents under McDermott, while others stated their belief that McDermott’s departure is down to the sacking of former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

It is what it is, we’ll be fine and to be honest like most businesses I think Spurs have bigger problems right now.

Only positive to this is our set up hasn’t been right for a wile with transfers and now a manager who normally buys the finished products so maybe a new way of working top to bottom could do us good

What do we think?
Although some Spurs fans appear relatively blase over McDermott’s departure, the Tottenham coach has helped bring through some of their brightest talents over the last few years, including the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks and Japhet Tanganga.
Spurs will now face the challenge of replacing McDermott and have already reportedly begun their search.
However, considering the level of talent that the coach has nurtured into top-level athletes, whoever does take the role over certainly has big shoes to fill.
