Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting on social media to Steve Bruce’s rebuttal of reports in the Daily Mail, which claimed Allan Saint-Maximin’s future with the club was in doubt following an alleged bust-up with Bruce.
Saint-Maximin, who joined Newcastle from OGC Nice last summer, has impressed over his 17 Premier League appearances so far to the Magpies, averaging a 7.09 WhoScored match rating despite only scoring one goal and providing one assist for the club.
However, following the 22-year-old’s exclusion from the Newcastle starting XI for their goalless draw with Burnley last weekend, the Daily Mail reported that Steve Bruce and the former French U21 international had been involved in a “bust-up”, something which Bruce adamantly denied.
In reaction to the article, Bruce claimed the story was “total lies” and “nonsense”, something which Newcastle fans have been discussing on Twitter, with many claiming they have a new-found respect for the boss following his comments.

Fair play to Bruce.
I always enjoy watching managers going head on with reporters for filling the media with absolute lies.
I actually believe Brucey in this one.

What do we think?
Although many Newcastle fans were not happy with the appointment of Steve Bruce as manager, the 59-year-old has done an impressive job with the club so far.
His record stands at eight wins, eight draws and 12 losses from his 28 Premier League matches, with the club sitting in 14th place, five points above the relegation zone.
In addition to this, following Tuesday night’s victory over West Brom, Bruce has guided Newcastle to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 2006.
