A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a post from their club showing a Cheick Tiote disallowed goal during a game against Manchester City in 2014.
The footage shows Yohan Cabaye’s corner cleared to the edge of the area where Tiote is lurking (0:05), and the Ivorian hits a superb left-footed drive that flies off his boot and arrows into the top corner. (0:07)
Tiote then turns around and charges towards the bench to celebrate (0:12) what would have been only his second goal for the club.
However, the strike was disallowed for offside (0:35) because Yoan Gouffran was deemed to have interfered with play.
Should this goal have stood?
Yes, there was nothing wrong with it
No, correct decision
This triggers a massive reaction from the stands (0:39), and the Toon went on to lose 2-0.
It seems that even now, these Newcastle fans have not forgiven that decision.

What do we think?
Tiote’s strike was superb, and to us, Gouffran was not interfering with play – so we understand why many Newcastle fans are still angry about this particular moment.
