Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to Allan Saint-Maximin’s post on Twitter, in which the 22-year-old reflects on Newcastle’s 3-2 FA Cup win against West Brom.
Saint-Maximin, who arrived at Newcastle from Nice last summer, has impressed for the Magpies so far this season, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.09 over his 17 Premier League appearances for the club, despite scoring just one goal and providing one assist.
However, the £22.5 million-rated left-winger has fared better in terms of goals and assists in the FA Cup, scoring once and providing two assists in just three matches.
His two assists in the tournament came in Tuesday night’s victory over West Brom, in which Newcastle defeated the Championship table-toppers 3-2, and progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time since 2006.
Following the match, Saint-Maximin posted images of Newcastle’s celebrations during the fixture, with the caption: “My crew”.
In reaction to the 22-year-old’s post, Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter, with many congratulating the former French U21 international on his performance, while others pleaded with the winger to stay at the club past this summer, regardless of interest from elsewhere.

What do we think?
Despite only starting 50% of Newcastle’s Premier League games this season, it would appear that Saint-Maximin has already endeared himself to the Magpies fans.
If the 22-year-old can shake off the injuries that have hampered his time at the club so far, then Newcastle could have an extremely hot prospect on their hands.
