Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting negatively to some comments that were recently made by Magpies boss Steve Bruce regarding the goals he aims to achieve before the end of his time at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle-focused Twitter account @NUFCTheMag posted a tweet shared some comments that were recently made by the club’s manager, who has stated that he’s got his “sights set on Europe, top eight, and competing to win a cup every season”.
Bruce’s comments originally surfaced via a recent interview that the 59-year-old Magpies boss conducted with The Telegraph, in which he also declares that he thinks his current job “will be the last” of his managerial career.

What do we think?
If Bruce’s recent comments are true and he does indeed anticipate that his current post at St. James’ Park will be his last in the game, it may be understandable why the 59-year-old manager has got a desire to succeed in his current role and subsequently leave the game on a high note.
However, Newcastle United have failed to finish in a higher position than 10th place in the Premier League in any of the last seven seasons, with the club even spending one of those in England’s second tier.
With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Magpies fans may feel that it is unrealistic for Bruce to achieve his aim of getting the club “back into the top eight” during his tenure.
