A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet from NUFC 360 relaying quotes from Martin Hardy’s and Matt Lawton’s piece in The Times.
Hardy and Lawton report that the Premier League have received paperwork from Newcastle United about a potential change in ownership.
This is described as ‘significant‘ in the piece and it could mean the Toon are a step closer to having a new owner/owners.
This comes at the same time as George Caulkin released a takeover update that claimed that Mike Ashley has lowered his price and definitely wants to sell.
Do you think this is a significant update?
Yes
No
However, many Newcastle fans are still not convinced considering every takeover attempt since Ashley bought the club has failed.
The Times understands that Newcastle officials have sent paperwork to the Premier League outlining the proposed takeover of the club by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. [Times] #NUFC

Must be a step in the right direction if #nufc officials have sent paperwork to the premier league. Although, what would they send that the PIF wouldn’t?

What do we think?
Considering both Hardy, Lawton, and Caulkin have provided positive takeover updates on the same day, we think that there might be something in it.
Crucially, both updates seem positive and hint at a successful conclusion that would see Mike Ashley replaced as the owner of Newcastle.
It will be interesting to see what happens over the next week.
