Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays comments made by Timo Werner regarding a potential move to Manchester City, Liverpool, or even Manchester United.

Werner has been in remarkable form for RB so far this season, scoring 21 goals in 25 Bundesliga appearances, while averaging a remarkable WhoScored match rating of 7.58.

In addition to his domestic haul, the £72million-rated centre-forward has also scored four goals in eight Champions League appearances, averaging a match rating of 7.13.

Due to the German international’s impressive performances, he will likely be one of the hottest properties over the summer transfer window, something that is only strengthed by reports in the Athletic that claim Werner has a buy-out clause of £51million in his contract with Leipzig.

However, in a recent interview with Sky Sports, Werner has given an indication of his preferred destination, should he move this summer, stating: “At this time in professional soccer, there are two different variations. The first is to be part of a team like Liverpool or Manchester City. They have a good working team. The teams have also great coaches.

“But this is the question: do you want to go to that kind of team, because the situation is already that hard for each member and you want to be a part of it? That’s one point you have to look at.”

He continued: “The other side are teams which need some big changes because they just won a few big titles, but they are not able to compete on the highest level anymore. For me, Manchester United is one of these teams.”

In reaction to the comments, which were relayed City Chief on Twitter, fans of Manchester City flocked to have their say, with many begging the club to do everything in their power to sign the German this summer, while others were not so convinced.

City broke the all-time points record in the 17/18 Premier League season, but how many points did the champions finish that season on?

What do we think?

Timo Werner’s WhoScored rating of 7.58 not only ranks him as RB Leipzig’s top performer of the season so far, but also as the fourth-best in the entire Bundesliga, behind only Robert Lewandowski, Jadon Sancho and Serge Gnabry.

As such, it would appear that Werner’s future lies away from a club of RB’s size, however, just where exactly Werner will be playing his football next season remains to be anybody’s guess.
