Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to Phil Foden’s post on Twitter, in which the 19-year-old reflects on Manchester City’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Foden, who is an academy product of Manchester City, has made 24 appearances for the Citizens so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists in all competitions.

The £27 million-rated midfielder has averaged a WhoScored match rating of 6.78 across his 18 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League for City this season.

In his latest fixture, Foden played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford, earning a WhoScored match rating of 6.67.

Following the game, the 19-year-old took to Twitter, stating: “Not the result or performance we wanted. We will come back stronger, hungrier and better for the fans!!”

In reaction to his comments, fans of Man City flocked to the replies, with many sending Foden messages of encouragement, while others claimed that City would not learn from their mistakes.

City broke the all-time points record in the 17/18 Premier League season, but how many points did the champions finish that season on?

What do we think?

Although City failed to take anything from the game, Foden’s performance should encourage City fans nonetheless.

The midfielder registered two shots, made one key pass, and completed four dribbles in the game – which are certainly promising statistics in a Manchester derby from a player who is still just a teenager.
