What do we think?
While it is clear that a large quantity of City fans feel that Sterling is overrated, inconsistent and frustrating, the winger’s stats would appear to show a different story.
This season, Sterling has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in his 24 Premier League appearances, in addition to a further five goals and four assists in his seven Champions League fixtures, while averaging an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.19 in the league and an even more impressive rating of 7.67 in Europe.
Indeed, his tally comes to 20 goals in all competitions.
As such, although it is evident that many City fans believe that their player is overrated, his stats show that he is in fact one of the club’s best performers so far this season.
