Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to Pep Guardiola’s comments on Ederson, who made two individual errors in City’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
Ederson, who arrived at City from Benfica in 2017, has made 25 league appearances for the Citizens so far this season, conceding 24 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets.
The £63million-rated goalkeeper has averaged a WhoScored match rating of 6.49 in the Premier League this season.
However, in his most recent appearance, during City’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, the Brazilian international registered a season-low rating of 4.43 after making two errors that led to United’s goals.
Following the fixture, Pep Guardiola refused to criticise the 26-year-old, stating: “He’s an exceptional goalkeeper. You don’t make mistakes? I don’t make mistakes? I don’t come here to judge my players if they make mistakes. It’s part of the game. He will recover and he’s an exceptional goalkeeper.”
In reaction to Guardiola’s comments, which were relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, many City fans replied with messages of support for their goalkeeper.

Pep needs to take serious these derbies. I mean the squad he chose was our 2nd team that should’ve played against Sheffield Wednesday not united

What do we think?
So far this season, only Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka, with four, has made more errors directly leading to goals than Ederson, who has made three.
2019/20 has also been Ederson’s worst season in terms of average match ratings for Manchester City, with the goalkeeper’s current average of 6.49 being lower than his total in both 2017/18 and 2018/19.
