Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post by Fernandinho on Twitter, in which the 34-year-old reflects on City’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening.

Fernandinho, who arrived at the club from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, has been in fine form for City this season, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.94 over the course of his 22 Premier League appearances.

However, what makes the 34-year-old’s average rating even more impressive is that the £9 million-rated defensive midfielder has often been played out of position this season, with the Brazilian having to operate from central defence due to Aymeric Laporte’s multiple injuries.

Although Fernandinho was on the bench for City’s recent FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday, the midfielder was still delighted with his side’s progress in the competition, tweeting: “Well done today. On to the next one! 6th round @emiratesfacup #cmoncity”

In reaction to his post, City fans flocked to Twitter, with many joining Fernandinho in his praise of the side.
