Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which highlights Yaya Toure’s record during his time at the club.
Toure joined City from Barcelona in 2010 and went on to make 316 appearances for the club, scoring 79 goals and providing 50 assists.
However, the former Ivory Coast international’s best return for the club came during the 2013/14 season, in which he scored 24 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions, helping City to win a Premier League and League Cup double.
After a recent post highlighting the central midfielder’s stats from the 2013/14 season was tweeted, fans of Manchester City flocked to have their say on Toure’s contributions for the club, with many suggesting that it was criminal he did not win the Player of the Year award that season.

Disgusting numbers them. How he didn’t get player of the year that season is a shambles

A totally unique footballer, the like of which I’ve never seen before. A buffalo in ballet shoes.
These comparisons with a certain Frenchman at Old Trafford are an insult to Yaya’s legacy
I’d bet Paul Pogba wears Yaya Toure pyjamas at bedtime ?

What do we think?
Yaya Toure is arguably one of Manchester City’s greatest ever midfielders, winning three Premier Leagues, three League Cups and one Community Shield over his eight seasons with the club, which has led to him being called a ‘legend‘ in some sections of the media.
The 36-year-old also won four consecutive African Footballer of the Year award in his time at City, from 2011 to 2014.
As such, it is unsurprising to see how fondly remembered the midfielder is by fans of Manchester City.
