Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to respond to the latest reported transfer rumour surrounding RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
This comes after football journalist Ronan Murphy shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying news originally published by BILD on the striker.
The report claims that Liverpool could sign the striker this summer then immediately loan Werner back to Leipzig for the 2020/21 season.
Would you take Werner if it meant loaning him back to Leipzig next year?
Yes, he's worth the wait
No, that would be pointless
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to have their say on this latest development.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
Liverpool could sign Timo Werner this summer and loan him back to RB Leipzig for the 2020-21 season, according to Bild. #LFC #RBL

Makes zero sense and LFC is not a charity.

If this was the case then another attacker would be signed surely
— Carson (@WC_LFC_Torres) March 8, 2020
What would be the point in that? Ridiculous.

What the hell

The German striker has been in spectacular goalscoring form this season having registered 27 goals in 35 appearances for the Bundesliga side (per Transfermarkt). Now that it has been suggested that Liverpool could loan the 24-year-old back to Leipzig if they sign him this summer, this has caught the attention of a lot of Reds fans who had raised eyebrows on this latest update.
Literally makes no sense. Front three in desperate need of competition and we have Mane/Salah missing for 6 weeks bc of AFCON

Not a fan of this idea! With the African cup of nations we need players now.
— Anthony (@ACharles86) March 9, 2020
Loan him back? Because we don’t need reinforcement or what?

What do we think?
Loaning Werner back to Leipzig would certainly defeat the purpose of his transfer to Liverpool in our opinion. Whether this is a viable option in an effort to persuade the German club to sell their man is still just speculation. But what we know from these replies is that the idea of loaning Werner back to Leipzig doesn’t seem like a good idea to these Liverpool fans.
