As Liverpool close in on their first-ever Premier League title, rival boss Pep Guardiola has called for the competition to be suspended – and that hasn’t gone down well with the Anfield faithful.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Arsenal, which has since been postponed, the 49-year-old made his thoughts on the subject clear.
The coronavirus outbreak has led to all sport in Italy being suspended and the upcoming fixtures in Spain will be played behind closed doors for the time being. Following Guardiola’s comments (as per the Liverpool Echo), here is what some Reds fans have had to say.
Is Guardiola right to suggest the Premier League should be suspended?

I’m sure a guy as competitive as Pep would not be saying the same thing if the roles were reversed.

Sad and pathetic. He wouldn’t say this if City were 25 points clear.

Putting the euros back a year and have a 6 week break. Can’t be doing with games behind closed doors.

What do we think?
It appears these Liverpool fans believe Guardiola’s outlook would be totally different if it were his side leading the table by 25 points. However, given the danger posed by the coronavirus, we believe it’s just a matter of time before the authorities step in and take similar action to their Italian and Spanish counterparts.
