Liverpool’s dreams of retaining the UEFA Champions League trophy ended at Anfield on Wednesday night when Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid scored three goals in extra time to eliminate the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side looked as though they were set to take their place in the last eight after Roberto Firmino’s 94th-minute goal. However, a costly error from Adrian gifted Marcos Llorente a goal just three minutes later and from then on, it was a disaster for the Anfield giants.

Atleti fans were great when we were in Madrid last June. Hope you go on to win it. Doubt you will though.

If you beat the champions in both legs, you must be a top team. Good luck for the rest of the competition. We can show you the directions to Istanbul if you need them?

What do we think?
Given the circumstances, in our opinion, Atletico’s post showed class and therefore it’s no wonder these Liverpool fans have reacted in a respectful manner. Jurgen Klopp may not have taken the defeat as well, considering his post-match comments, but it’s refreshing to see rival fans acknowledge the mutual respect between the two clubs.
