Liverpool are in advanced talks regarding the extension of Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract until 2023 – that’s according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira via Twitter. The Dutchman’s current contract is due to expire in June 2021 and the club appears to be moving to prevent him leaving on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Signed from Newcastle United in 2016 for £24.75m, the 29-year-old has established himself as a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s side. He’s started 97% of the club’s Premier League fixtures this season (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
